Dear Readers,
I always loves seeing so many posts on Instagram and Facebook with young and old women talking about female recognition, independence, intelligence and feminism on March 8th every year for International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is about celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and continuing to forward gender equality. This years theme is #BalanceforBetter, promoting a gender-balanced world.
Sometimes living in the western world we forget how far women have come over the last 100 years. It’s important to remember the achievements and struggles of the women before us. Throughout history women have been faced with significant challenges and obstacles that various brave women have confronted and conquered which allowed women to live the life we do today. Simple day-to-day things like: education, work, and the right to vote. However, there are still so many countries even in 2019 where women do not have the same privileges that we experience here in Canada.
International Women’s Day is also about recognising the strong and independent women there are in the world. From female CEO’s, doctors, lawyers, scientists, historians, to mothers, grandmothers, daughters and friends. Strong women come in every shape and size!
When women come together even more change can happen! If the Suffragettes had only be a singular Suffragette would the women in the western world have earned the right to vote? Women supporting each is other is crucial to moving our world forward 🌎
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY to all the fabulous, intelligent, kind, and inspiring women out there. I am lucky enough to have such a wide variety of inspiring women in my life who stand up for themselves for what the believe and stop at nothing to reach their goals. To any girl out there, it is important to always remember how strong and intelligent you are, and to always believe in yourself no matter what. Women can do incredible things.
This is great Laura! Thank you.
