Dear Readers,
Well despite not being a “white” Christmas, the snow has arrived in the Maritimes… and most likely won’t be leaving until the end of March (at the earliest). I have always had mixed feelings about winter, I love skiing and skating, but I am not a fan of -20 weather or slipping and sliding on ice. I am usually on good terms with winter for at least the month of January but by March I am ready for it to leave!
As I have gotten older, I have definitely learned to embrace winter more, but more importantly I have learned to dress properly for the cold and slippery season. I can remember in high school waiting for the bus in ballet flats or a no hat just because I didn’t think winter attire could be fashionable. Now I laugh at that thought, and think how silly (an unpractical) I once was. Now I can’t imagine leaving the house in the winter without winterized boots on, and I have developed such a love for hats!
Everyone’s best friend in the winter time is a good pair of winter boots. They keep your feet warm and help you from falling. This season I purchased a pair of the Ugg Adirondack III boots in black. “The waterproof Adirondack III features an outsole designed to stay flexible in freezing temps, extra warming insulation, a cushioning insole, and a higher cold-weather rating of -32˚C.” AKA they are there perfect boot for Canadian winters. They are so warm and cozy, plus they aren’t too bulky. There are two ways to wear the boots 1) rolled down to expose the fur or 2) the top rolled up which make the boots look more sleek.
If black isn’t the colour for you they also come in: Sand, Chestnut, and Charcoal. Plus there is also a taller version of the boot too!
I’ve already worn mine up to the ski hill, to work in a snow storm and playing around in the snow of course!
I am also wearing one of my favourite hats, my grey This is Rella hat. These hats are so incredibly warm, and I couldn’t imagine going outside on a cold day without it!
So far winter is off to a good start, and I hope it stays that way. What are some of your favourite items to bundle up in?!
