The Best Ways to Enjoy Winter

Dear Readers,

Well I think it is safe to say that winter is in full swing now in the Maritimes. There have been snow days from work, trips to the ski hill and evenings spent out on the local outdoor skating rink. Despite typically having a love/hate relationship with winter (as I have said before) I must admit, I have been having a great winter this year! I typically have Monday’s off, which has made a huge difference. Going up to the local ski hill Poley there is hardly anyone there, children are all in class when I go up to the local outdoor skating rink and it is really easy to make last minute bookings for going away since most people work on Monday.

Here are a few of my ideas for enjoying the winter!

Outdoor Activities:

Down hill skiing. Skiing is probably my favourite part about winter. I always feel so lucky that our little ski hill Poley is less than an hour away!

Snow Shoeing. Significantly more fun that a regular walk in the snow.

Nature Spa. Take a trip to Spa Chance Harbour, or any other local out door spa to discover a new way to appreciate the winter weather.

Indoor Activities:

Hot Chocolate Dates. Who doesn’t love hot chocolate after spending time outdoors during the winter? Reward yourself with a yummy hot chocolate after skating or skiing or simply on an extra chilly day.

Movie Night. Bundle up, make some snacks and have a movie night. I have been trying to watch as many Oscar nominated movies as I can. Little Women has definitely been my favourite!

Plan a party. There are so many fun holidays and celebrations in the winter. From Burns Night– SuperBowl- Valentines Day – St Patricks Day, lots of great options.
